New for 2025: A Fresh Take on Companion Training and Programming

As part of our continued focus on safety and meaningful participation, we’re making an exciting change to this year’s Companion Ground School. For 2025, hands-on simulator training will move out of the Annual Convention and into its own dedicated event later in the year at SIMCOM.

This new format allows for a deeper, more immersive experience—designed exclusively for TBM companions. Using SIMCOM’s simulators and professional instruction, participants will gain real-world confidence in the right seat. The curriculum will focus on cockpit communication, emergency procedures, and practical inflight skills—perfect for non-pilot partners and family members. Details on this companion-focused SIMCOM event will be announced soon.

In the meantime, we’ve created a brand-new, interactive option for companions attending the Savannah convention: Morning Briefs (for Companions!)—a series of fun, engaging morning sessions led by TBMOPA members and aviation educators. These daily classes will offer an approachable introduction to TBM operations, safety tips, and “right seat smarts”—all in a relaxed, no-pressure setting. No simulator required, just curiosity and a sense of adventure.

We’re also thrilled to welcome Lisa Riente, who will be leading our Social Companion Program for the first time in Savannah. With over 30 years of experience designing luxury travel and wellness experiences across the South, Lisa brings warmth, charm, and insider knowledge of the Lowcountry to every detail of the program.

This year’s companion schedule will include thoughtfully curated cultural outings, hidden gems, and plenty of time to connect with fellow companions. From historic walking tours to garden lunches and personalized shopping experiences, Lisa has created a program that’s relaxed, engaging, and distinctly Savannah.

Whether you're here to learn, explore, or simply unwind, the 2025 Companion Program has something just for you.
