New for 2025: A Fresh Take on Companion Training and Programming
We’re just weeks away from the TBMOPA Annual Convention in Savannah—and this year’s Companion Program is shaping up to be our best yet.
As part of our continued focus on safety and meaningful participation, we’re introducing a major update to the Companion Ground School. Beginning this year, hands-on simulator training will move out of the Annual Convention and into its own dedicated SIMCOM event later this year.
This new format allows for deeper, more personalized instruction using SIMCOM’s state-of-the-art simulators and professional instructors. The curriculum focuses on cockpit communication, emergency procedures, and practical inflight skills—helping non-pilot partners gain real-world confidence in the right seat.
Dates and registration details for the dedicated Companion SIMCOM Event will be announced during the convention.
In Savannah, we’re debuting Morning Briefs (for Companions!)—a series of approachable, interactive sessions led by TBMOPA members and aviation educators. These short morning classes will introduce companions to TBM operations, safety concepts, and “right-seat smarts” in a relaxed, supportive environment. No simulator required—just curiosity and a sense of adventure.
We’re also thrilled to welcome Lisa Riente, who is leading our Social Companion Program for the first time this year. With over 30 years of experience designing luxury travel and wellness experiences across the South, Lisa brings her signature warmth, insight, and attention to detail to every outing.
