TBMOPA and Flying Smart Safety Seminar with Daher

The more you understand your aircraft on the ground, the safer you are in the air. That is the theme of this year's TBMOPA European Safety Seminar. With the help of Flying Smart and Daher, we are excited to welcome you to an event that will make you a little smarter and definitely better connected to your TBMOPA Community.

The format is kept deliberately intimate. Places are strictly limited so that every owner can engage openly with the team, with Daher, and with each other.

Friday

You arrive at Oxford through the morning, have a light lunch alongside the aircraft with the Flying Smart team, and spend the afternoon on live TBM airframes.

Three stations. Small groups. You rotate through all of them with the technicians who work on these aircraft.

This is not a lecture. Every station answers the same question: what should you check, beyond a normal preflight, when your aircraft comes back from maintenance? You will leave knowing exactly what to look for.

The evening moves to Estelle Manor for a drinks reception and a private dinner.

Saturday

Three sessions across the morning at Estelle Manor.

  • Fleet safety statistics and trends, owner-pilot risk profile, weather decision making, fatigue, envelope protection, and loss of control in IMC and on the turn to final.
  • Fuel management and real-world versus book figures, flying by the numbers, engine awareness, high altitude operations, icing in European conditions, and getting the most from your Garmin suite.
  • Maintenance awareness for owner-pilots, recurrency training, and regulatory updates.

Daher will be with us across both days, and the morning closes with open Q&A. Bring the question you have never had the right person to ask.

Then a fly-out lunch, and home.

Airport Information

Fly your TBM directly to Oxford Airport (EGTK) and park at the Flying Smart hangar, where our team will meet you on the ramp. Landing fees are covered. Overnight parking is available, and transfers to your hotel are arranged for Friday afternoon.

Flying Smart, based at Hangar 1, Langford Lane, London Oxford Airport, is the exclusive TBM distributor for the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and operates from six bases across the UK, France and Belgium. Alongside new and pre owned aircraft sales, the team provides maintenance, aircraft management, flight operations and 24/7 support, plus its Wingman proficiency programme.

Hotel Information

Estelle Manor — The Main Hotel
Eynsham Park, Oxfordshire OX29 6PN · +44 (0) 1993 685800 · estellemanor.com

This is a country house hotel and members' club set on an 85-acre estate inside more than 3,000 acres of Oxfordshire parkland, about 15 minutes from Oxford Airport.

Rooms. 108 bedrooms, suites and private houses, spread across the Manor House, the Walled Garden, and the converted Stables. There are also two- to six-bedroom cabins and houses if a group wants to share.

Food. Six places to eat, which is unusual for a country house. The Brasserie does all-day dining in the Manor House, and there is Chinese in the Billiards Room, Japanese in The Armoury, and wood-fired and Indian dishes in The Glasshouse, plus two seasonal pop-ups.

Eynsham Baths. The headline facility. A 3,000 square metre Roman-inspired spa with five pools and ten treatment rooms, plus a separate 25-metre outdoor pool at the South Terrace.

Everything else. A 250 square metre gym with more than 30 weekly classes, padel courts, archery, air rifle, axe throwing, birds of prey, a kids' club, and a paddock with resident ponies.

This is the Premier option and the rooms are limited, with a two-night minimum. It is also a members' club, so access is restricted to members, their guests, and hotel guests, which is exactly why booking early matters here more than at a normal hotel. Coming with a companion? While you are in the hangar, your partner has a Roman bath house and 3,000 acres.

The Feathers, Woodstock — Alternative Hotel
16-20 Market Street, Woodstock OX20 1SX · feathers.co.uk

A small boutique hotel in the centre of Woodstock, roughly 10 minutes from both Oxford Airport and Estelle Manor.

Rooms. 17 individually designed rooms and 6 suites. A historic building with contemporary interiors rather than a country house on an estate.

Food. The Nest restaurant, recently refurbished, doing locally sourced menus. The Aviary bar with courtyard seating. Breakfast comes up repeatedly in reviews as a strength.

Parking. Secure private parking about a five-minute walk away, with free public parking nearby.

Rates. Roughly £250 to £400 a night for a standard room, depending on dates.

This hotel sits in a proper Cotswold market town, and Blenheim Palace is a ten-minute walk from the front door. For anyone arriving Thursday or staying Sunday, that is a great option. No two-night minimum, and no members' club to navigate.
