When are flight sessions being offered?
Flight sessions will be offered on the following dates and times:
Thursday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

How do I schedule a flight session?
Book online on the TBMOPA Website. Mona or Misty will contact you to schedule your exact
flying slot.

Will I use my own aircraft, or will one be provided?
Owner Training and Companion training will be conducted in your aircraft.

What do I need to do prior to class?
It is the pilot’s responsibility to make their own hotel and ground transportation arrangements.

What do I need to bring with me?
Airworthiness Certificate, Registration Certificate, Pilot certificate, current medical, and photo ID
Aircraft and engine log books (or copies of the pages) showing the following information

  • Last annual inspection
  • ELT battery replacement date
  • Transponder inspection date
  • Altimeter/static inspection date
  • Weight and Balance Data
  • Current Database for your GPS
  • Current charts, sectionals, and approach plates appropriate to the area of the training
  • Checklists appropriate for your airplane
  • An airworthy airplane (If we do find an item that makes the aircraft unairworthy by FAA standards, we will make arrangements with you to complete the flying portion of the program after the discrepancy is resolved).

Will I get an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) and Flight Review?
The focus of the flight session is an in-depth review of specific areas and does not lend itself to meeting the requirements of an IPC or Flight Review.

What type of document will I receive after completing the flight session?
You will receive a letter stating you have attended the TBMOPA Foundation Safety Event and the Flight Session as provided by SimCom (as appropriate).

Can I request a specific flight instructor?
We will do our best to accommodate your request. Please make it known when you book the course. However, we cannot make any guarantees on which instructor will be ultimately assigned to you.

Cancellation Policy
If you cancel more than two weeks before the program begins, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within one week prior to the flight session, you will forfeit your deposit.

Insurance Requirements
Not later than a week before your flight, we will need your insurance company or broker to
send TBMOPA a Certificate of Insurance providing evidence of the following:

  • Aircraft Liability covering the operation of the aircraft with a minimum limit of $2,000,000 Combined Single Limit.
  • All Risk Ground & Flight Hull Insurance, with a Waiver of Subrogation to TBM 700 Owners and Pilots Association, Inc. and their indemnities. Naming: TBM 700 Owners and Pilots Association, Inc., its past, present, future parents, subsidiaries, divisions, and predecessors, affiliates, controlling persons, shareholders, directors, officers, agents, servants, employees or instructors of said companies, as Additional Insureds. (Collectively, the indemnities).
  • Coverage is primary and non-contributory to any other insurance available to TBM 700 Owners and Pilots Association, Inc. or otherwise.
  • Carrier to provide 30 days notice in the event of cancellation, change or reduction in coverage.
